Magic
Do you think of magic as something out there, that, if you are lucky, might come to you, be bestowed upon you? Somewhat of a fluke appearance, which if you don’t watch out, you might miss? I’d say that is what luck is.
So what is magic then? Whatever you want it to be, but here is my take.
Magic is in the laws and mechanics that surround us. It’s not reality and magic. Reality is magic. We’ve just separated the two, created another binary of drudgery versus fantasy. Magic is present, consistent, solid, not measurable the way you’d like it to be, but it’s reliable.
It’s trustworthy.
Magic isn't a happenstance, but it’s more than possible to miss it. For example by choosing fantasy.
For me fantasy feels like it has an element of control. It feels fun, but more escapist. Magic on the other hand requires that I become not only a magician, but also an ingredient of magic, and a spectator at the same time. It feels like alchemy, with an element of adventure, which feels like life on a good day.
